ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Officers are investigating a crash Monday morning involving an East Allen County Schools bus and an SUV that sent four people to the hospital.

Dispatch confirmed officers responded to the intersection of Hoagland and Clayton roads, between Hoagland and Monroeville, just before 8 a.m.

Police determined the bus driver was headed north on Clayton Road and stopped at the intersection’s stop sign before continuing, but didn’t see the SUV coming toward the bus from westbound on Hoagland Road.

Police at the scene confirmed to WANE 15 three people including juveniles were in the SUV, and two of them were taken to the hospital, one of whom was said to be in serious condition.

Two people on the bus were also taken to the hospital, and there were no students on board, police said.

A spokesperson for EACS said in a statement:

An East Allen County Schools bus was involved in an accident this morning.  There were no students on board, however, school personnel were transported to the hospital for observation. The accident is still under investigation.

A map showed traffic was temporarily slowed in the area but was back to normal before 9 a.m.
