FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — An 18-year-old shot and killed during a memorial gathering at McCormick Park has been identified.

Brycen Demond Cassell-Thomas died from multiple gunshot wounds and his death was ruled a homicide, according to a release from the Allen County Coroner.

Witnesses at the scene said the memorial was being held for 19-year-old Tyreece Vachon, who was shot and killed at an apartment building earlier this week.

Police responded to the shooting at approximately 6:43 p.m., and an officer at the scene told WANE 15 that three men and one woman suffered injuries in the shooting.

The three men were taken to a hospital before authorities arrived, and Cassell-Thomas was later pronounced dead at the hospital, according to police.

Authorities did not provide conditions for the other three victims.

The shooting is still under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD), Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
