FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The motorcycle passenger killed in a crash on the Allen-Whitley county line Friday afternoon has been identified.
Cpl. Nick Meade with Indiana State Police confirmed to WANE 15 that the passenger killed was identified as 64-year-old Peggy S. Brookens of Shepherd, Michigan.
Dispatch confirmed to WANE 15 around 12:15 p.m. that Whitley County officers were investigating a crash at the intersection of State Road 14 and Southwest County Line Road.
Indiana State Police later confirmed a motorcycle and van crashed in the middle of the intersection, and a passenger on the motorcycle died. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as 54-year-old Terry Brookens of Shepherd, Michigan. The driver of the van was identified as 48-year-old Diana Keirn of South Whitley.
The driver of the van (Keirn) and the motorcycle (Terry) were taken to a hospital, and Keirn is in non life-threatening condition, but Terry’s condition is unknown, according to Indiana State Police.
It is unclear who had the right of way before the crash.
