Wayne grad Mitchell signs to play in Switzerland

Sports

Wayne High School graduate and former Wright State standout Justin Mitchell is heading overseas to continue his basketball career.

The 2014 winner of the Tiffany Gooden Award as the best player in the SAC as a senior at Wayne, Mitchell has inked a 1-year deal with the Basel Starwings. The Starwings play in Switzerland’s top basketball league.

Mitchell averaged 11.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists during his final season at Wright State.

He is just one of three players in Wright State history to record a triple-double, with all three of those players Fort Wayne natives – Mitchell, Keion Brooks Sr., and Vernard Hollins.
