TinCaps organization prepares for home opener

Sports

Despite the cold temperatures, the TinCaps are back in Fort Wayne and are ready for their home opener at Parkview Field Saturday.

The team kicked off its 10th season Thursday away from home against the Lake County Captains. The TinCaps lost on a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth 3-2.

Fort Wayne hopes to redeem itself as the series with the Captains continues Saturday at home.

But before the players take the field for the first time of the season, there has been a lot of work behind-the-scenes to get everything ready.

From grounds crews, to cleaning staff, to broadcasters, and more, the whole organization has been working hard to prepare for the big home opener. Hundreds of workers will be on hand for the event.

The first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. A fireworks show will follow the game to celebrate the start of the 10th season at Parkview Field.
