The TinCaps got their six-game road swing off to a strong start with a 8-4 win at Cedar Rapids on Wednesday night.
TinCaps starter Luis Patiño was solid on the mound, throwing five innings of scoreless baseball. Patiño struck out five while yielding three hits and two walks. With the win Patiño improved to 3-3 on the season and lowered his ERA to 2.28.
Luis Almanzar hit a two-run home run in the 4th inning, his second long ball of the season. Gabriel Arias was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double.
The TinCaps and Kernels square off again tomorrow night at 7:35 p.m.
