The Mastodons started off the match on fire from the service line. Seven of the Mastodons’ first 12 points came on aces, and one more ace came later in the set. The ‘Dons went up 12-4 to start the match and had a 6-1 run later to open up a 10 point lead. A solo block from Vargas ended the opening frame.

The rest of the offense picked up as the night went on, as the Mastodons’ .158 opening frame was the worst of the night. A .452 second set and .345 third set followed.

Four straight points from Purdue Fort Wayne in the second set opened up a 14-8 lead that would shortly after be ballooned to 20-11 after five straight. Vargas had another ace and Diedrich had two blocks and a kill in this stretch. Dickmann earned one of his four kills on the last point of the set.

Quincy held reasonably close at 20-17 in the third set, but Purdue Fort Wayne closed the match on a 5-1 push in which Austin Neace had a pair of kills. The match ended on a triple block from Tony Price, Diedrich and Dickmann. Price had five kills on nine swings in his first match back since his injury.
