McKinstry enjoying chance to play in hometown

Sports

Fort Wayne native and North Side grad Zach McKinstry has been on the road team this week but Parkview Field has certainly felt like home for the Great Lakes Loons shortstop.

A 33rd round pick by the Dodgers as a sophomore at Central Michigan in 2016, McKinstry spent most of last season in High-A ball while also playing 15 games in Double-A.

This season, he’s looking to improve in all aspects of the game – and the numbers speak for themselves.

McKinstry leads the Loons with a .391 batting average and hit a three-run home run against the TinCaps on Tuesday night.
