OSSIAN, Ind. (WANE) - Norwell graduate Josh VanMeter is getting an opportunity to show what he can do against the game's best players as the 23-year old has been invited to Major League camp with the Cincinnati Reds.
VanMeter spent the bulk of last season playing for Triple A Louisville. As a utility player that played both the infield and outfield for the Louisville Bats, VanMeter hit .253 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, and 5 stolen bases.
VanMeter was a fifth-round pick by the Padres organization out of Norwell in the 2015 MLB Draft. A former TinCap, he was traded to the Reds organization before the 2017 season.
