Former Carroll High School standout Blake Siebenaler is on the move as the defenseman was traded by the Columbus Blue Jackets organization to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a conditional pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Siebenaler, who had been playing for Columbus’ AHL affiliate in Cleveland, will head to Pittsburgh’s AHL affiliate the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Siebenaler is in his third season as a professional. Injuries limited him last season and this year he had two points in 17 games. As a pro he had 14 points in 83 games.
The former Charger is in the final year of his first pro contract and will be a restricted free agent this summer.
He was a third-round pick (77th overall) by Blue Jackets in the 2014 NHL Draft and played three seasons with the OHL’s Niagra IceDogs.
