Blake Siebenaler played his first game as a professional back in his hometown on Wednesday night but his Wheeling Nailers would come up on the short end of the stick as the Komets held on to a 6-5 victory at War Memorial Coliseum.
Siebenaler is the first player in Fort Wayne history to be raised in the Summit City and drafted by an NHL team, as the defenseman was picked in the third round of the 2014 draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Komets were led by J.C. Campagna and Mason Baptista with two goals on Wednesday.
The Komets are back in action on Friday when they travel to Kalamazoo. The team returns home Saturday night to host Toledo at 7:30 p.m.
