The Komets led 2-1 in the second period but couldn’t hold on, falling to visiting Kalamazoo 5-3 at War Memorial Coliseum on Friday night.
Brady Shaw’s first goal as a Komet – he was acquired from Orlando in a trade earlier in the week – gave the Komets a 2-1 lead.
The K-Wings scored three straight goals before Jamie Schaafsma’s penalty shot in the third period made it 4-3.
The Komets are back at home again on Saturday night when they host rival Toledo at 7:30 p.m.
