FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – For the second game in a row overtime was kind to the Komets, as James Martin’s OT goal earned Fort Wayne a 2-1 win in game four of the North Division Finals and knotted the series at two games apiece.
For the second game in a row Pat Nagle started in goal for the Komets. Nagle made 13 stops in the first period, as the Walleye and Komets were scoreless through the first 20 minutes.
Toledo opened the scoring in the second period at 4:29 with Troy Schwab netting his sixth goal of the playoffs for the Walleye.
The Komets responded at 8:45 in the second frame as Mike Embach’s power play goal knotted the game at 1-1 heading into the third period.
After a scoreless third period the game went into overtime with Martin’s first goal of the postseason proving the difference.
Nagle stopped 29-of-30 shots on the night.
Jeff Lerg saved 36-of-38 shots in net for Toledo.
Game five is scheduled for Saturday at 7:35 p.m. in Toledo.
