Indiana head coach Archie Miller and Purdue assistant Brandon Brantley were among the many coaches at Spiece Fieldhouse on Thursday night checking out Indy Heat Black 2019 as the annual GRBA National Championship tipped off.
The event runs through Sunday at various locations around the Summit City.
Coaches were no doubt looking to catch a glimpse of North Side senior-to-be Keion Brooks Jr. However, Brooks, who plays for Indy Heat Black, sat out Thursday’s game with tendonitis.
That left most of the attention on Center Grove big man Trayce Jackson-Davis. The 6-foot-8 power forward dominated in the middle for Indy Heat Black. Brooks’ biggest competition for Indiana Mr. Basketball next season, Jackson-Davis recently played for the USA U18 squad that won a gold medal. The son of former Indiana Pacer Dale Davis, he holds offers from a number of schools, including IU, Purdue, and Michigan State.
Jackson-Davis also has a local tie – his mother is from Wawasee.
