Fort Wayne sophomore Mike Snyder has been named the Summit League Baseball Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday (April 23).
Snyder, a Fort Wayne native and Northrop graduate, led the Mastodons to a series sweep over Omaha with a .429 (6-of-14) batting average, .571 slugging percentage and .429 on-base percentage. He totaled six runs, five RBI, three stolen bases and two doubles on the week. He went 3-for-5 in game two of the series with three runs, two RBI, a pair of steals and one double. In game three he had a 3 RBI double and scored a run, to participate in four of Fort Wayne’s five runs in the game.
This is the first career Player of the Week honor for Snyder. He is the second Mastodon to be honored this season. Earlier this year Shane Odzark was named the Pitcher of the Week.
The Mastodons return to action on Wednesday (April 25) in a 3 p.m. start at home against Dayton.
