Bishop Dwenger and Notre Dame graduate Tyler Eifert is hoping for a healthy season after back sugery, but the former Pro Bowler did not participate in the first day of Bengals mandatory minicamp.

“As time goes on, when we start to play football, then we will have an idea of where he is,” said Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said to Paul Dehner of the Cincinnati Enquierer.

Eifert played just two games last year for Cincinnati. In five seasons since being drafted out of Notre Dame in the first round by the Bengals Eifert has played in 39 of 80 possible regular season games.

Eifert signed a one-year deal to return to Cincinnati this offseason.
