Columbia City’s Murphy hopes to catch on quickly in NFL

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Jared Murphy is used to catching on quickly.

The Columbia City graduate had 94 catches for over 1,300 yards and a dozen touchdowns his senior year. He signed to play college ball at Miami (OH) and is now hoping for a chance in the NFL.

Murphy has a workout with the Bengals this week.

The slot receiver was a consistent and reliable figure on the offense for the Redhawks the final four years of his career. He played 52 games.

Now at AWP in south Fort Wayne, they are working on his explosiveness and elusiveness that will translate to the next level.

It doesn’t hurt that his workout partner is NAIA Player of the Year, quarterback Nick Ferrer that just wrapped up his prolific career at St. Francis.

The demand for his skill set is high even though his 5-foot-10-inch mold may be overlooked. Murphy is receptive to any chance he can get.
