BLUFFTON, Ind. (WANE) — For the first time in two decades, Bluffton will have a new mayor in office.

Republican John Whicker defeated Democrat Charles King in Tuesday’s municipal election. Whicker secured 64 percent of the vote.

Whicker will replace current Mayor Ted Ellis, who announced in August 2018 he would not seek re-election.

This is the first time in 52 years that a Republican has been mayor in Bluffton. The last Republican to become mayor was Carl Goodwin, who served one term starting in 1967.
