FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A car overheated and became engulfed in flames on Sunday evening on I-69 S at the 308 mile marker, near Hillegas and the Goshen Road exit.

According to Indiana State Police Sgt. Ron Galaviz, the car was smoking from the roof and the driver pulled over on the side of the highway. An Indiana state police officer happened to be behind the car and saw the scene of the fire around 4 p.m. Sometime after the driver stepped outof  the vehicle, it became completely engulfed in flames.

The Allen County Fire Department was called to put the fire out and the car was towed away, Galaviz said.

Eric Emley sent NewsChannel 15 the video of the car fire.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured and no fatalities were reported. Galaviz said that it wasn’t exactly clear how the car overheated.
