FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)- Downtown Fort Wayne’s newest restaurant has been creating a lot of buzz. The Golden, which will be located inside the Ash Skyline Plaza, will have its grand opening June 3. The restaurant owners said it will bring a touch of big city dining right to the heart of Fort Wayne.

Aaron Butts and Sean Richardson, have been working for more than a year to make their vision a reality. They decided on the restaurant’s name because they said it is a symbol of excellence.

“We’re holding ourselves to the highest standard in the ingredients we use, the techniques we use to prepare those ingredients, and then how we serve our guests,” said Butts.

Butts and Richardson are former chefs at Roanoke’s Joseph Decuis, one of Indiana’s most notable restaurants. Although they promise top notch food they don’t want to be labeled as a fine dining restaurant.

“We wanted to make a space that anyone could come in and experience this kind of place,” said Richardson.

The average entree is about $22 dollars a meal. The restaurant has a large selection of craft beers, specialty cocktails, and a “wall of wines” with more than 170 bottles. Butts and Richardson said the guests’ overall experience is what’s most important.

“I hope that everyone just has fun,” said Richardson. “Because that’s what we want more than anything out of this place. [We want] a place that people sit and want to stay a while and then come back the next day.”
