FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – There was a lot of baggage at Memorial Coliseum – and I’m not talking about the Vera Bradley sale on the other side of the building.

These two teams combined for 54 penalty minutes in the regular season final.
Fort Wayne trailed 1-0 into the second period when an awkward bounce off the back boards put the Komets out of position. Justin Vaive took advantage and scored easily to make it a two goal advantage.
But don’t call it comeback.
The Komets netted a pair of goals soon thereafter. Daniel Maggio scored on a power play and then Garrett Thompson evened the game a few minutes later.
The two teams traded goals in the third period. It went to overtime tied at 3 goals a piece.
Justin Hodgman took a hard shot near his own bench. The center went hard to the ice hard but he was able to get up and skate to the locker room under his own power.
