WOODBURN, Ind. (WANE) – Wednesday evening a tornado smashed through a small Amish community northwest of Woodburn. The National Weather Service preliminary rated it as an EF-3, but the survey has not been completed yet.

One home was torn from it’s foundation then destroyed, and several barns and small sheds were completely flattened. That included the housing for 24,000 chickens that had to be euthanized.

Within 12 hours of the tornado passing through, friends and community members showed up to start the clean up and re-building process. The frame of a new barn already exists in the footprint of a destroyed barn less than 24 hours after it was damaged.
