Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you have to go without locally grown produce and home-based products. This year Fort Wayne’s Farmer’s Market (FWFM) has expanded its October – May market by utilizing more space at Parkview Field. “We’ve been indoors at the Lincoln Financial Event Center now for six years and we needed more space,” said FWFM vendor and marketing manager Leigh Rowan. “So now we’ve expanded into Parkview’s 400 Club as well.”
Rowan is one of at least 40 vendors who sets up shop every Saturday. She runs Big Brick House Bakery and Pasta and she has a lot of faithful customers. “My husband and I come here every weekend because we depend on the market as our source for sustainably grown food grown by local farmers,” said Diane Dickson. “It’s so much fun here.”
At the Market you will find products from the farm and garden, home-based foods, natural products, and local artisans. It also offers a wide variety of products for those with special dietary needs or restrictions plus local musicians often perform.
The motto at the Market is “Buy Local, Buy Fresh”. More than 82,000 customers a year visit it. The Market is open on S. Barr Street from May through September. It started its fall season inside at Parkview Field October 6 and will head back outside to Barr Street in the middle of May 2019.
“In addition to opening up the 400 Club at Parkview we’re also going to try a hot breakfast this year,” said Holly Raney, Parkview Field Special Events Manager. “The kitchen staff here is going to make a hot item for guests to purchase along with everything else they come to get at the Market.”
Fort Wayne’s Farmer’s Market will be open at Parkview Field’s Lincoln Financial Event Center and 400 Club every Saturday from October through May from 9 a.m.to 1 p.m. Parking is free.
