FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) Many people are familiar with Parkview Regional Medical Center off of Dupont Road in Fort Wayne, and now leaders at Parkview Health are hoping with investments into one of its more central locations a hospital will be seen in a new light.
“I want the community to once again see that Randallia is their hospital,” Marlon Wardlow vice president, operations of Parkview Hospital Randallia said. “Our cardiology services are still here. We still have a fully functional operating room. Our emergency department, as I’ve stated before is still the busiest emergency department in northeast Indiana.”
The next phase of Parkview Randallia’s $55 million renovations started Thursday. Crews started working on the front of the hospital to improve its look. Cranes were also in place to help lift equipment and materials to the roof for stone work. Crews will also work on the masonry and replace windows.
“We’re happy to still be here, to be re-investing here in our community and to overall provide that same opportunity for generations to come. To continue to have births here, to see loved ones transition to their next phase of life afterwards,” Wardlow said.
Improvements on the front of the building are just part of the next phase. The hospital will also start work on the following:
- State-of-the-art surgery suites
- Cardiac catheterization lab
- Updated and enhanced family birthing center
- Updated and enhanced inpatients and outpatient rehabilitation services
- Expanded critical care services
During renovations, visitors will see barricades and the and cranes at three locations outside the hospital: Entrance 1, the Outpatient Therapy entrance and near the Emergency Department’s entrance. Construction will not impact Parkview patient, family and visitor access to the facility or its services.
The project should be done in three to four years. It will also create 150 new jobs. Parkview Randallia was built 62-years-ago.
