FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE)  Several crews with the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire Thursday morning in a northeast neighborhood after neighbors called 911 after seeing smoke.

Fort Wayne firefighters on scene of a vacant house fire at 7130 Antebellum Drive on Thursday, April 21, 2016.

Neighbors told NewsChannel 15 the home located at 7130 Antebellum Blvd. just north of East State Boulevard near Blackhawk Middle School has been vacant for over a year.  They also said it’s the second vacant home in that neighborhood to catch fire recently, something firefighters later confirmed.

The fire was contained to the first floor and no one was injured fighting the blaze after crews arrived at 7:40 a.m.

A fire department spokesman said it’s too early in the investigation to tell how the fire started or if it was intentionally set.  It’s also too early to tell whether the fire is related to the previous one at a vacant house in the same neighborhood.
