Video from the U.S. Department of Defense shows the test launch of an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile.
It was launched from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California late Tuesday night.
The military says the missile traveled at a speed of 15,000 miles per hour, and went about 4,200 miles over the Pacific Ocean to a test range near an atoll in the Marshall Islands.
