National/World

While speaking in El Paso, Texas on Monday, President Donald Trump talked about his feelings for dogs and what it would be like to have one at the White House where the first family has broken with tradition by not having a pet.

During his appearance, Trump talked about German Shepherds that work on the border to find drugs and how he wouldn’t mind having one, but then he backtracked. (Watch the video to hear his comments)

Trump lived with a poodle named Chappy with his first wife Ivana.

In her memoir “Raising Trump,” Ivana wrote that “Donald was not a dog fan,” and Chappy she later said had “an equal dislike of Donald.”
