A load of limestone dust spilled from a transport truck at a west Fort Wayne intersection Monday afternoon and forced authorities to close roads.
Dispatchers told WANE 15 that around 2:30 p.m., a truck lost its load around the intersection of Taylor Street and Portage Boulevard. It’s not clear how.
Officials at the scene said a load of limestone dust spilled in the area. Crews could be seen sweeping the dust to clear the roadways.
Taylor Street was closed from Fillmore Street to Ardmore Avenue, and Portage Boulevard was closed in the area. The area was reopened to traffic by 4:30 p.m.
Limestone dust is sand-like material commonly used as a leveling agent in patios, walkways and retaining walls.
