NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) The motorboat restriction on the West Lakes chain in Noble County that has been battered by flood waters this season has been lifted.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources said Tuesday that it rescinded its emergency order restricting motorboats to idle speed on the lake chain. Normal boating is again allowed on Waldron, Steinbarger, Tamarack and Jones lakes.
It was late June when, due to continued concern regarding high water levels, an emergency order restricting the operation of motorized watercraft was put into place on the West Lakes chain. Trolling motors were included in the restriction.
The West Lakes chain has seen high water since spring, which has resulted in numerous homes being badly damaged by flood waters. In response, the West Lakes Association planned a series of meetings address the flooding.
The second of those meetings will be held Tuesday night at 5:30 at the Orange Township Fire Station in Rome City.
