Wells Fargo robbed for 2nd time in 4 days

Local News

The State Boulevard Wells Fargo branch was robbed for the second time in a week on Friday.

Police were called around 11:40 a.m. to the Wells Fargo at 901 W. State Blvd. on a report of a robbery there.

Fort Wayne Police Department spokesperson Officer Michael Joyner said a man walked into the bank and slipped a note to a teller demanded money. He didn’t indicate he had a weapon. The man was given cash and he left on foot.

Joyner described him as a black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with gray trim. The robber was wearing the hood on his head when he walked in, but a teller asked him to put it down.

Police believe they will be able to find a clear picture of his face from surveillance footage. Other video from nearby businesses will also be monitored.

The same branch was held up Monday, when just after 9:30 a.m. a man walked into the branch and said he had a gun then demanded cash by passing a note to a teller. The man was given cash and he left the bank on foot.

Police released surveillance images of the suspect afterward, which showed a white man with a black ball cap with a unique hologram sticker on it, a gray Nike hoodie, blue jeans and hi-top athletic shoes.

Anyone that might have seen the robbery suspect is asked to contact police at 427-1201 and or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
