Two Warsaw Police Department officers are being hailed for saving a woman’s life.
On May 13, 2017, Corporal Phillip Hawks responded to a shooting 33 minutes after his shift ended. When he got there, he pulled out his trauma kit and started helping the victim.
Patrol Officer Samuel Weaver arrived a short time later. Hawks asked Weaver to apply pressure the wound while a tourniquet was applied to her upper arm.
Weaver continued to keep the victim calm and get information about what happened. The suspect was later arrested.
First responders were called to two scenes near one another, which caused confusion and delays.
The victim has since been released from the hospital.
