Staff members from NewsChannel 15 were busy painting a home today, a service project for our owner Nexstar’s company-wide Day of Caring.
The team was helping out Neighborlink Fort Wayne. They scraped and painted away at a house on Orff Rd., just off of Leesburg Rd. on the west side of Fort Wayne.
The home has belonged to Jim and Rosemary Weigold for more than 40 years. Their daughter Christy Shepherd signed them up for Neighborlink.
“They can sigh a breath of relief,” she said. “It’s wonderful. They feel very blessed today. NewsChannel 15 worked very hard since early this morning on one of the hottest days of the year so far. I think it’s awesome.”
Neighborlink volunteers help hundreds of senior citizens, people with disabilities, low-income families, and people facing life’s circumstances with much needed, tangible home repair projects. Neighborlink’s big picture goal is to connect neighbor to neighbor to encouraging relationships and healthier neighborhoods in the city we love.
