Fire badly damaged a home on Fort Wayne’s east side Monday.
Firefighters were called just after 2:30 p.m. to a home at 2824 Chestnut St., off Wayne Trace and New Haven Avenue near Adams Elementary School. There, crews found flames rising from the two-story home.
The blaze left the home’s back facade badly charred. A back porch was burned to the studs.
A Fort Wayne Fire report said a grill tank exploded and caused flames to rapidly spread.
A father and three children made it out of the home safely. No injuries were reported.
Fort Wayne Fire officials said they responded to the call with additional crews due to the hot outside temperatures so they could rotate crews in and out.
The fire was deemed under control in just over a half-hour, the report said.
It’s not clear yet what the cause of the fire was.
