U.S. 30 in Van Wert reopened after fatal crash

One man is dead after a crash in Van Wert County, Ohio Friday afternoon.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2005 Ford F-150 was heading southbound on State Road 49 when the driver pulled out in front of a semi truck that was heading westbound on U.S. 30. just after 3:30 p.m.

The semi and pickup truck collided. The semi pushed the truck down the road, through the median, and overturn onto the eastbound lanes of U.S. 30.

Both lanes were blocked by the semi’s trailer. 

The eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. 30 were shut down temporarily. The road has since been reopened.

The driver of the pickup truck has been identified as Clarence Radabaugh, 62, of Cloverdale, Ohio. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Authorities said the semi driver is Jose Martinez, 47, of Elkhart, Indiana. He was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Authorities said Martinez was unable to avoid hitting Radabaugh.

The crash remains under investigation.
