A car driven by an 18-year-old St. Joe teen ended up in a cornfield after his Chevy Impala collided with a Chrysler Pacifica on Monday. at the intersection of two county roads.
Logan Hegerfeld told an officer with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department that he was going north on CR 63 approaching CR 40 when did a rolling stop and proceeded through the intersection. However Hegerfeld did not see the Chrysler which was headed west on CR 40.
The two vehicles collided, sending the Chevy into the field. The Chrysler spun and came to rest in the intersection.
Both Hegerfeld, and the driver of the Chrysler, Wendy Shull, 44, of Butler refused medical treatment at the scene.
Hegerfeld was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
The Butler Fire Department assisted at the scene.
