FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Tim Smith made his run for Fort Wayne mayor official today.

Before a crowd of more than 100 people, the businessman and long-time resident said people expect more from city government but aren’t getting it.

“I believe, even in these economic times, that our political leadership can deliver far more than what Fort Wayne residents currently experience. That is why I am running for Mayor of our great city,” said Smith.

“Expect more, each and every day, when I’m Mayor. Expect the safest, smartest, and strongest city in the Midwest.”

A release from the Tim Smith campaign said, “Tim has experience overseeing teams of hundreds and budgets of tens of millions” as an executive at MedPro,

Smith will face at-large city councilman John Crawford in the Republican primary in May, 2019.

Mayor Tom Henry has announced he will seek a fourth term as a Democrat.
