Three Rivers Festival Recap

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - The Three Rivers Festival is on its final day for 2018.

A week full of various activities and plenty of food drew thousands to downtown Fort Wayne for the 50th festival. Despite some rain towards the end, people have kept their spirits up.

"You know the weather kind of yesterday slowed us down a little bit," said Melanie Allen, TRF's operations coordinator. "but overall....it's been pretty positive."

The ribbon cutting officially kicked things off last Friday, followed by the parade on Saturday, Bed Races on Wednesday and a concert Friday. With all of that some people still have at least one thing to look forward to.

"Fireworks at the end is my favorite," said Max Snowball, a regular Three Rivers Festival attendee.

Despite rain chances in the  forecast, Three Rivers Festival officials still expect the fireworks show to go off at 10:00 Saturday night.

"Well, I'll tell you what. Once the fireworks are on the building, more or less, they're going to get fired," said Three Rivers Festival Executive Director Jack Hammer. "You can't tell the fireworks guys, 'hey can we fire those things off tomorrow night if it's not raining?' No, if they're on the roof and ready to go, then we're going to shoot them so we'd like to find a time where it's not raining, but we're not afraid of rain. We've shot them off before in the rain."
