Three people were injured after their car rolled over on I-65 in Northwest Indiana. The single vehicle crash happened at approximately 9:55 p.m. Monday evening. The car was totaled.
A preliminary investigation by the Indiana State Police Lowell District revealed a 2009 Hyundai was south bound on I-65 at the 238.9 mile marker, which is about one mile south of the Lowell exit. State Police said the car was driven by 18-year old Kenneth Dean, of Chicago, Illinois. For unknown reasons the car went off the road. It then traveled southwest into a ditch and rolled over numerous times, before coming to rest in an open field.
Investigators said Dean sustained a head injury but refused medical treatment. Two passengers, 21-year old Jayonatai McCan, of Lexington, Kentucky and 22-year old Demetria Lee, of Somerset, Kentucky also sustained injuries and refused medical treatment.
Dean was cited for Learner Permit Violation and Expired License Plates.
