Indianapolis-based nonprofit, The Milk Bank, works to support sick and fragile babies whose moms can’t provide them with milk. The nonprofit is available in Fort Wayne.
The Milk Bank provides supports babies through the distribution of pasteurized donor human milk (PDHM) when the baby’s mother is unable to provide her own breast milk.
In the absence of mother’s own milk, PDHM is the safest substitute and offers optimal nutrition, easy digestibility and protection against many organisms and diseases.
The Milk Bank primarily provides donor milk to hospital NICUs, but also has services for outpatient families who need transition support or if a mother is medically unable to breast feed.
