A 19-year-old has been arrested after police said two people were stabbed early Friday at a Monroeville home.
Police were called around 4:30 a.m. to 18430 Monroeville Road on a report of a reported disturbance involving an armed person. When authorities arrived, they found two victims with apparent stab wounds, according to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
Both were taken to a local hospital in serious condition, police at the scene said. Since, however, both were downgraded to critical condition, the sheriff’s department said later.
Police took 19-year-old Dakota Gebert into custody at the scene. He’s preliminarily charged with two counts of felony Aggravated Battery.
No other details about the incident were released. It’s not clear the relationship between the suspect and the two victims, and what motive there was for the attacks.
Investigators haven’t identified the victims or provided their ages.
Crime scene tape stretched across the home’s driveway and several people were seen leaving the house and talking with police. One woman was carrying a child, approximately 4- or 5-years-old.
It’s not clear if the stabbing happened inside the home and if the child was nearby.
Neighbors told NewsChannel 15’s Rod Hissong the people who lived at the home had moved in about a month ago.
The incident is under investigation.
