Fort Wayne, Ind. (WANE) -
They found that there are 37 areas in Allen County that are considered food deserts, or areas where people don't have access to grocery stores and fresh food.
More than 1 in 3 Allen County households cannot afford the basic costs of housing, food, health care, child care, and transportation, despite being employed.
One resource community members can use is the Community Harvest Foodbank which Carmen Cumberland tells NewsChannel 15 is working to solve the food desert issue.
They identify these neighborhoods in need and take a food wagon there with bread, dairy, and produce.
