Students reunited with military parents for Veterans Day

Local News

While people around the country thanked those who have served in the armed services Monday, a handful of Fort Wayne Community Schools students reunited with their military parents.

The first reunion happened at Jefferson Middle School, where US Army Specialist Amanda Story surprised her daughter Alyssa White. Story had been deployed in Kuwait since January.

“I didn’t know she was going to be here, so I’m like whataheck,” said Alyssa.

Then, Sgt. Brittney Bullock with the Army National Guard surprised her three daughters at Shambaugh Elementary School. Bullock had not physically seen them since Jan. 1, when she too deployed to Kuwait.

Amanda then went to Holland Elementary to surprise her son and daughter there as well. The two of them ran to her as soon as she walked through the door.
