Area students gathered at Glenbrook Mall in Fort Wayne to participate in the 2018 Canstruction Fort Wayne competition.
Twelve student teams from local schools participated in the competition, in which students build structures out of cans. Structures ranged in size from 1,800 to 12,000 cans and were built under the theme of “Decades.”
The event, hosted by Community Harvest Food Bank in conjunction with Glenbrook Square Mall, aimed to collect at least 75,000 pounds of food, both from structures and through donations from the public.
Last year, Canstruction collected 74,172 pounds of food – nearly 62,000 meals.
Guests to the mall can view the canned structures from Friday through April 29.
