Melissa Montana, is celebrating 30 years at Star 88.3, the outreach of music and ministry to the community, and says she’s not finished for a long time. The radio station has become a media outlet heard around the world via the internet and by downloading their app and they now host 9 frequencies around the area from southern Michigan to Warsaw to Darke County in western Ohio.
Based in Fort Wayne, it has evolved over the years with growth and opportunity for new vision and events that touch families and make Fort Wayne and the surrounding area a better place to live. It’s known as a “safe place” to come where families don’t have to worry about what their kids are listening to in the car. Melissa loves sharing the message of the station, which is dear to her heart.
“God is our strength and he is my shelter and my strength and my prividor and I can accomplish anything and go through anything so I want anyone to know that thats the message if youre hurting today theres hope for you friend.” Montana said.
Melissa has been there for all the changes that have happened throughout the three decades.
“It still feels new every day. When people tell me or my team that their life has been forever changed by the music and the message heard on STAR 88.3, I feel honored and humbled to get to serve this community. I’m still not done here and excited about the future. I can’t believe I can say I’ve been here 30 years! God is faithful and I’m forever grateful to get to serve in this role.” Montana said.
On her 30 year anniversary, Wednesday, May 1st, Melissa will be hosting her afternoon drive time show to include something a little special from 4pm – 6pm by inviting friends, Curtis Smith and Mitch Kruse, to join her on air to have fun, give away some prizes and talk about what they’re thankful for.
