FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - I-469 northbound has reopened at Exit 19 (US 30) after a crash on I-469 near Exit 21 (US 24).
Emergency crews shut down the northbound lanes of that section of I-469 for about an hour and a half while they cleaned up a crash that happened around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday.
One person from that collision was transported to the hospital in serious condition.
The northbound lanes reopened around 7:20 a.m.
Traffic moved slowly for some time after that as multiple crashes and slide-offs backed up traffic in both directions on I-469 and on US 24 and US 30.
Slick conditions contributed to several crashes, especially between the 19 and 26 mile markers of I-469 Wednesday morning.
Around 5 o'clock Wednesday morning first responders were first called to mile marker 24 in the northbound lanes of I-469 to the report of a single vehicle crash. That's near the Maysville Road and US 37 exit (exit 25).
Over the next couple of hours, several other reports of slide-offs and crashes along the northern and eastern sections of I-469 continued to come in.
At least two semis were also reported off the roadway.
All drivers were encouraged to slow down and watch for slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses.
