The death of a man who police found shot in an alley off E. Berry Street has been ruled a homicide. Someone shot 40-year-old Malcolm Robinson in the chest just after 7 p.m. Thursday evening.

Fort Wayne police responded to reports of shots fired near the 800 block of Harmar Street. Robinson was initially listed in critical condition and paramedics and police gave him medical attention. But, a short time later, paramedics pronounced him dead.

People at the scene told detectives that they saw a vehicle leaving the area after the gun shots were heard, but police said a description of that vehicle was not available. There is also no suspect information.

Detectives canvassed the neighborhood and talked with any possible witnesses. Crime scene investigators were also called to look for possible evidence. Anyone with any information about the shooting should call the Fort Wayne Police Department at (260) 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-7867.
