Roanoke celebrates 'Christmas in the Village'

Roanoke, Ind. (WANE) - The Christmas spirit is strong in the small village of Roanoke, as they celebrate the holiday season with Christmas in the Village.

Family and friends gather downtown at 126 N. Main St. for a weekend of festivities.

Friday evening, Santa arrived by fire truck on Main Street. Children met with him and visited with a live reindeer.

Saturday, people can enjoy breakfast with Santa at Cornerstone Alliance Church from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. In the afternoon, families can donate new toys to the Lutheran Children's Hospital on Main St. and visit with Santa from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. 

Kids can also enjoy free activities. They can pick up "Santa's Checklist" with a full list of activities.

Shops will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. United Methodist Women will be selling cookies and hot cocoa.
