The church that has been trying to end violence in Fort Wayne with prayer walks is holding one more event before summer ends.
That event is being called “Bless the Backpack”. Senior Pastor Raymond C. Dix, Jr. said he wants to make sure kids are going back to school without violence in mind.
“Most of us as believers think that a right relationship with God, good education,” Pastor Raymond said. “That’s a good way not to end up living a life of poverty.”
The event will continue the summer theme of prayer and community unity, but will also be charitable.
“If you need a backpack, come on out” Said Dix. “First hundred people are going to get a backpack. We’ll have food out there some hot dogs and chips and water to serve and it’s going to be about 90 minutes so we’re excited about that.”
The event is on Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 2421 South Hanna Street.
Pastor Dix said there will be food and time for prayer but ultimately he hopes it will end the summer on a positive note.
