More than 1,000 customers were still without power in northern Indiana early Monday after a Saturday storm that brought heavy winds.
Indiana Michigan Power said in an email just before 11 a.m. Monday it had restored power to more than 90 percent of its Indiana customers but 1,200 were still in the dark. Of that number, 50 remained without power in Allen County, with the remainder in Elkhart, LaPorte, Randolph and St. Joseph counties.
The power company said it expected to have full power restored to the Fort Wayne and Avilla areas by noon Monday.
Saturday’s storm brought down trees throughout the area, with wind speeds up to 55 mph. More than 8,000 were left without power and 17 area counties were placed under wind advisories.
