Potential AccuGear expansion could create 60 new jobs

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - 60 new jobs would be created if a potential expansion a AccuGear goes to plan.

Leaders of the company, which makes gears used in car parts, have requested a tax abatement from the City of Fort Wayne.

In documents filed for the request, the company claims it will spend $7 million on a new addition along Ludwig Road and $6 million in new equipment. 

The plan also calls for 60 new jobs which would come with a combined $2.4 million in new salaries.

According to the paperwork, no public money will be needed for the project.

Fort Wayne city council members will look at the plan Tuesday and take votes on the request in the coming weeks.

Councilman Russ Jehl told WANE 15 News the expansion is good news and the request should be approved.
